No More Knives Tour

The No More Knives Tour empowers high school students to make good choices about knives and knife crime. It teaches young people of the dangers associated with carrying knives and how they can play their part to secure safer streets. The tour has delivered a great deal of activity in Salford in recent times, engaging with thousands of young people.

Reach out Start to End Suicide: Hospital Workers’ Lunch

A Reach Out march

People in NHS frontline roles are often working in very stressful and challenging circumstances which can jeopardise their mental health. The Hospital Workers’ Lunch project sees engagement workers go out to hospitals, with pizzas for workers, to talk about mental health and raise awareness of suicide prevention over lunch. Following a pilot at Salford Royal Hospital, the project has spread across Greater Manchester.

Kersal FC

Kersal FC players and coaches

Kersal FC is a local club that uses football to make a difference by focussing on young people’s wellbeing and tackling the risk of antisocial behaviour. The club helps over 140 children in Salford make friends, learn social skills, and keep fit. It has members aged 5 – 16 and many go on to gain FA coaching badges, refereeing badges, and safeguarding and first aid qualifications.

Shomrim Salford

Shomrim Salford is a neighbourhood watch organisation that has operated in the city for 25 years. The group is made up entirely of volunteers who live in Salford and work in partnership with Greater Manchester Police and the council. Shomrim’s neighbourhood response team operates 24 hours a day in Broughton and Kersal.
