Salford Veterans Breakfast Club

Salford Veterans Breakfast ClubSalford Veterans Breakfast Club was set up by veterans in January 2015 in Pendleton. Many veterans who attend are elderly, feel isolated or have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and physical disabilities. The club has transformed many lives and enabled people to reconnect with the armed forces community, helping with moving into civilian life.

Salford Older People’s Neighbourhood Network

Salford Older People’s Neighbourhood NetworkSalford Older Peoples Neighbourhood Network is a community group of nearly 60 people that work together to give a voice to older people and make Salford a more age friendly place. They have worked on various age friendly projects including efforts to make streets more accessible so it is easier for older people to spend time outside the home and work to bring older people from different backgrounds together for meals to celebrate different cultures and tackle loneliness and isolation.

Dancing with Dementia

Dancing with DementiaDancing with Dementia is a social dance and entertainment group for people living with dementia, their family, friends and carers. The group provides a monthly afternoon tea dance for over 100 people at Swinton Palais and in addition arranges day trips and other activities for its members. In doing so, Dancing with Dementia does tremendous work to tackle the loneliness and isolation that people with dementia can experience.

Senior Moments Show

Senior Moments ShowThe Senior Moments Show has been on air with Salford City Radio for more than eight years. The show was conceived and created by Allison Czerwinka as a way to give a dedicated voice to older people in Salford. The show is presented by a regular team of senior Salford citizens including Mary, John and Barbara, who – in addition to providing entertainment – offer support, information on services and highlight health advice available for older people in the city.
