Taxis transfers

Taxis transfersTaxis transfers is a local taxi firm that has played a remarkable role in Salford’s efforts to tackle the pandemic. Throughout the crisis, the firm has provided a transport service to take people showing signs of Covid to Salford’s testing centre. Taxi transfers have undertaken thousands of journeys for key workers and patients, many of whom were very ill. The drivers have also been heavily involved in delivering meals to NHS staff every day during lockdown and transporting the Covid Home Assessment Nursing team all over the city.

Salford Youth Justice and Together Housing

Salford Youth Justice and Together HousingSalford Youth Justice and Together Housing have been shortlisted for their efforts to tackle hate crime. The group have developed an impactful hate crime information film which broke down barriers between groups of people, built awareness of hate crime and how to report it, and set out shared hopes, visions and values. The film will help hundreds of people in Salford access information about hate crime and ensure they are empowered to report hate crime incidents safely.

Salford Independent Domestic Abuse Support Service

Salford Independent Domestic Abuse Support ServiceSalford Independent Domestic Abuse Support Service provides extraordinary assistance to victims of domestic abuse. During the pandemic, the volume and complexity of the cases they deal with have gone through the roof, but they have never failed to deliver an excellent service. The organisation has responded magnificently to the challenges of the pandemic and its workers worked tirelessly to support traumatised victims on their journey to safety, working in shifts to extend their telephone helpline hours to include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Simon Mapp

Simon MappSimon Mapp works for Greater Manchester Police and has many years of experience in supporting victims of crime, including hate crime. He has combined this experience and enthusiasm with his remarkable IT skills to develop the successful GMP Victim Contact Toolkit. The system enables police staff to access up to date information on suitable support for victims and send it directly to the victim. This work has made a real difference for victims of crime and ensures that they can access tailored support including advocacy, information, signposting and financial help.
