Good Neighbour of the Year 2021

We are delighted to announce the winners in the Good Neighbour of the Year category.

Susan Hinder

Sue is a caring and supportive neighbour who always looks out for the people that live near her. Over the years, she has organised lots of events and activities in her neighbourhood – where, in normal times, her door is described as always being open. Sue has been especially supportive of children and young people, as she takes a great deal of time to support their wellbeing and involve them in positive community activities such as litter picks.

Lyn Cullymore / Gilda Glee Club

Lynn CullimoreThe Gilda Glee Club is a network of over 100 households in three connecting streets in Eccles where neighbours simply look out for each other; the group organises annual street parties where people come together to celebrate living in the streets. Lynn leads the club’s Christmas Choir, has set up social media for the club and organises weekly socially distanced discos to help neighbours remain connected during the pandemic, whilst also mobilising mutual aid and collections for groups such as the Spirit of Salford network, Women`s Refuges, Homelessness charities and the NHS/Ambulance service.

Nicola O’Neill

Nicola is an inspiring, kind, and supportive neighbour who lives in Westwood Park. She goes to great efforts to organise activities to help people living in her neighbourhood. For example, she organises a coat swap scheme so those with no money for a winter coat can get one for free. During the Christmas period Nicola has also helped her neighbours by distributing free Christmas items including wrapping paper, stickers and tags. She is also involved in delivering books, food and craft items for local families.

Keri Muldoon

Keri MuldoonKeri does a tremendous amount to support her neighbours and contribute to the local area. On top of a busy working and family life, Keri is the Broughton volunteer flood warden and runs the Broughton flood group, keeping residents aware of issues with the River Irwell. She also runs the friends of Grosvenor Park, organising events for the community and fundraising. During lock down she has been an anchor in the community helping her neighbours with everyday tasks, delivering food parcels and organising household items for people and families in need.
